What is your specific interest in design in healthcare? (Twitter-length answer)
I am studio Director of matchstudio .
matchstudio is an interdisciplinary research and professional practice studio established in 2010 that supports our students' transition from university to work l. Through the participation in client based project activity matchstudio provides students the opportunity to develop skills in collaborative practice, project stakeholder engagement, client consultation, client focused concept development, design development based on client feedback project costing and time and project management skills.
UniSA's Research and Research Education actively engages in research through strong multidisciplinary research concentrations, which achieve the scale and focus to deliver high quality research outcomes of demonstrable social, environmental, cultural or economic impact.
matchstudio, a research concentration within UniSA's School of Art, Architecture and Design is facilitating the development of a Research and Innovation cluster - the art & design of health &wellbeing with the Vision to:
Inspire and drive the inclusion of art, architecture and design in informing and contributing to the improvement of health and well-being amongst individuals and communities
Act as a catalyst for the formation of trans-disciplinary teams of researchers, designers, clinicians, health service provides and manufacturers to identify needs and develop solutions that when translated into physical form contribute to the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities
Conduct collaborative research that inspires innovation in policy, practice and service provision in addressing issues of practical relevance for individuals and communities
To support the work of the research cluster matchstudio is working to develop UniSA's capacity to provide a research and design lab that will stimulate and demonstrate a holistic 'solutions focused' culture to help address the growing needs of the health sector.
Through its research and experiential learning activities the lab will teach and demonstrate the ways in which researchers, together with art and design teams, industry and service providers can collaborate to conceptualise and implement the development and delivery of environments, health facilities and products that enable health and welling in our communities.
